E-Safety Warning

Does your child play Roblox?

Do you know how safe they are online?

Roblox is a very popular multiplayer game, aimed at 8-12 year olds, that allows users to design their own games and play different games with other people online.

There have been concerns raised nationally about its safety after reports of children being approached by strangers online and receiving inappropriate messages with naked characters doing "very adult things" in the virtual world. In addition, a large number of children report having received friendship requests from people they did not know. Many children also admitted to their account being ‘maxed out’ meaning they had 200 online friends.

After talking to children as part of our ongoing E-Safety lessons, it appears that the above concerns also apply to some of our own children. We are therefore asking parents to check the parental controls on the game, in addition to their child’s list of ‘friends’ and message inbox to see if they had received any inappropriate messages.
